Sambar Recipe in Hindi Sambar is a South Indian dish, it is eaten very fondly in South India. In the south, people prefer to eat sambar for breakfast, lunch and dinner at all three times. We can make very tasty Sambar by adding some vegetables to Toor Dal (Arhar Dal).

Ingredients Required – ingredients Sambar Recipe

Arhar dal = half cup

Drumstick pod = one, cut into three pieces

Pumpkin pieces = cup

oil = two spoons

Mustard seeds = 1 tsp

Curry leaves = 7 pieces

Hing = pinch

Crushed tomatoes = cup

Onion = 4 nos., of medium size

Tamarind pulp = one teaspoon

Sambar powder = three spoons

Red chili powder = 1 teaspoon

Turmeric powder = three pinch

salt = as per taste

Every coriander = two teaspoon finely chopped

Method – sambhar banane ki vidhi

First of all, wash the tur dal thoroughly and then in a pressure cooker add washed lentils and two cups of water, a pinch of salt and turmeric powder and cook for three whistles.


After the stipulated time, open the lid of the cooker and see whether the lentils are cooked or not and then knead the lentils well to make them soft.


Now cook the drumstick pods and pumpkin pieces on a tawa with a cup of water and after cooking on slow gas for 4 to 5 minutes, keep them aside, keeping in mind that the cooked vegetables should be soft.


Now heat oil in a pan and now add mustard seeds, curry leaves and asafoetida and fry it on low flame for a few seconds, then add onion and fry it for two minutes, now add tomatoes and mix the mixture well, let the tomatoes cook for two to three minutes. Let it cook well.


When the tomatoes are mixed well in the mixture, then add the cooked pumpkin pieces and drumstick pods, tamarind pulp, cooked lentils, sambhar masala, red chili powder, salt and cup water and mix this mixture very well. Take it


Cook while stirring the mixture for five minutes, then cover it with a lid and cook for four to five minutes, after the stipulated time, take it down from the gas, now sprinkle green coriander in it and stir the sambar well, serve the sambar hot.
